Temporary Residences

The term Temporary Residence includes the following types of facilities: hotels, motels, bungalow colonies, groups of cabins, mass gathering, and campgrounds.

The Clinton County Health Department works with the facility owner(s), the facility manager and local building code officer(s) or building inspector to ensure the facility is constructed to the building and fire codes at the time the facility was built, has an approved fire safety and employee emergency plan, and has properly operating fire safety equipment.

What is the Flu?

Flu (influenza) is a contagious illness that affects the nose, throat, and lungs. It is caused by flu viruses. There are three main types of flu viruses: A, B, and C.

Types A and B cause the seasonal flu outbreaks that happen each year. During flu season, up to 1 in 5 people may get sick with symptoms like fever, cough, body aches, and a runny or stuffy nose.

Who does the Flu Affect?

Anyone can get the flu. Some people are at higher risk for serious illness, but even healthy people can become very sick or develop complications.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial disease that most often affects the lungs. This is called pulmonary TB and can spread from person to person. However, TB can affect other parts of the body such as lymph nodes, kidneys, bone and joints. This is called extra-pulmonary (outside the lungs) disease.

Many sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are preventable. The U.S. Health and Human Services Department reports more than 20 million new cases of STIs in the U.S. each year.

Without treatment, these diseases can lead to major health problems such as sterility, permanent brain damage, heart disease, cancer, and even death.
