School Wellness Policies

Wellness Policies

Wellness policies are written documents that guide local partners’ efforts to create supportive nutrition and physical activity environments.

CCHD works with schools, early care and education settings, worksites and community settings through wellness policy creation to:

  • Initiate new or enhance existing policies, programs and best practices to support nutrition and physical activity.
  • Provide training, technical assistance and resources.
  • Improve the availability of healthy foods and beverages through the implementation of Food Service Guidelines in food venues such as cafeterias, cafes, grills, snack bars, concession stands, vending machines, and micro-markets.
  • Promote behavioral design strategies such as pricing incentives, food placement, and promotion.
  • Support the implementation of environmental supports that will benefit the greatest number of people.
